Haven't had a stormy one out on the lake in quite some time now and judging by the ice situation, it could be a while before we see some open waters. Off to ski the backwoods this weekend and sit by the wood stove at night.

Who said a dog from Arkansas couldn't handle the cold. So much energy the other morning, that Lutsen was practically flying.

Checked out the Banff Mountain Film Festival last night as it swung through town and entertained an audience of 1700 peeps here in T-Bay. Among some pretty decent films laid Red Gold, a feature that i have been wanting to see for a while now, put out by Felt Soul Media. Great cinematography and a wicked story line that brings this serious environmental debauchery to the forefront.

Check it.

Poignant

Saw this on Sissyfish early this morning and then over at Ku Yah! and couldn't resist poaching it and throwing it up here...the Obamas throwing the shaka yesterday. It symbolizes the spirit of aloha..."affection, love, peace, compassion and mercy"

At any rate, food for thought.

Even as a hearty Canadian, i can't help but think that temps dippin down into the negative 40 celcius range tend to be a bit on the ridiculous side. At first its sorta fun...like, 'wow its dam cold...this is so hardcore'. However, the thought tends to be fleeting and your stuck wishing for something "warmer", like a balmy -10C or -15C. Whatever...it's cold and that's the way it is. Keep at it with the skis and dream about pealing surf that doesn't involve your feet feeling like frozen stumps.

Gorgeous winter weekend. Logged some millage on the skis and managed to get to some projects down in the shop.

Airborne and looking south over Thunder Bay the other morning.

Been eying this red bus every day for some time now as the late afternoon sun, low on the horizon cuts through the tamaracks and lights its rusty busted up body.

Hit up the New Year right with a cross country ski with Nance and the pup Wednesday afternoon, some fondueing in the eve with friends and then a satisfying and fun surf on Thursday afternoon. But the party didn't stop there....rocked it at the local hill friday in the sun and the cold with the big tele sticks. And to top it all off, got a another 20cm (maybe more) of snow last night.woot.
