This ones been a while coming. Finally finished off my new go to commuter/ all round fun ride. An 18'' Surly Ogre, mostly non stock parts amassed myself or procured through Olympia Cycle and Ski in Winnipeg, including a sweet set of Mavic TN719 29er wheels that they built up for me on XT hubs. Here's a teaser, more specs and detailed shots to follow.

O. checking that all's well with the new rig in the evening light.

Plenty of big changes afoot here at the fresh aspect headquarters.  Actually we moved the headquarters a whole 5 or so blocks ESE towards the lake.  So yeah, between the usual grind, family, running, bikes, moving and so on...time on the interwebs has been limited.

Young hands loving the VW.
In fact he's requested to bring the van to bed several times now....the first time referring to it as his "D Double Van"

Hmmm... a perfect summer IPA....another creation a-la Northern Brewer.  'Chinook IPA', brewed outdoors on my Colman two burner stove in March. Not crazy hopped and super tasty.

A tomato plant that never made it into the earth last summer managed to survive the winter indoors and is now poppin flowers while we enjoy record warm temperatures for this time of year...we'll see what happens when it comes time to move it outside with all the little ones that are now starting on the windowsills.

Bike stoke.

Contents (minus, lunch and spare cloths) from my pack that rides with me on the daily commute.

Also, if you haven't heard, the canadian federal conservative government is proposing to eliminate fish habitat protection measures from the Fisheries Act! ...Not GOOD! Read up and take action. No habitat, means no fish...a pretty critical issue when it comes to fisheries ecosystem based management.

Much love for Lake Superior. A windy, rainy and gloomy day brought some damn fine waves; especially for this time of year. Thanks mother nature.

John slides along on a cruisey left last night.

Some 'urban' foraging turned up these oyster mushrooms growing on an aspen snag down by the creek.

The little man enjoying a warm day by the lake, throwing sticks.

Too warm for January in NWO. Rain to heavy snow, temp hovering around zero, strong east to ESE winds. Skiin' on month old snow up until now, so this should do something.

Break out the tools, quick tune of the edges with the strop and lay into some birch that has been sitting idle outside for the last few months. Fill the basement shop with the smell of fresh wood shavings. Oskar joins me for a bit and sits in his high chair to watch while he munches on an organic snack and smiles. Makes me smile.

Excuse the gratuitous backyard baby longboard session, but it was just a matter of time. With September looming, one thing is for certain, waves are on there way around here. So are young little, second generation lake surfers.

Here, Oskar is like.."hey dad, remember, head and chest up while paddling out, just like this".

Lack of posts the last little while, mostly due to the fact that we have been keeping busy round the headquarters, with visitors, everyday life and some essential home fixit projects that need to be completed prior to the fall season. More to come though. Check yeah later.

I've said it once, and i'll say it again...it's a bad ass blueberry bonanza out there. Got our forage on as a family again this evening and mustered up several liters of blueberries. Oskar managed to keep it together for the better part of the evening too. Tough life for a kiddo, when his parents are draggin him out in the bush and makin him breath the fresh air. Who says a 2 month old can't handle the black flies. That's life and it's good.
