Another shot from where i left off in my last post

Sparking the smokehouse loaded with fresh Lake Superior Cisco in December.

Heavy hauls with this guy and my dad on one of the coldest days of the winter

A lot of these kind of commutes

My wax technicians hard at work. A very typical weekend morning here.

Headed down to the stadium for the Kamview Jackrabbit Sprints

So you thought this blog had dried up and all but disappeared from the interwebs. Well, you're wrong....just happens that i can't be bothered to sit still and plunk myself in front of the ole desktop to post something to the interwebs. Sure, i post some images to instagram or facebook or flickr...but they're usually a one or two shot deal and they are quick, even without owning a cell phone. I realized the other day, that this blog platform has provided a pretty fun timeline over the years, even if it's just for myself; although i know a few of you get a kick out of it as well and can't be bothered with that other media crap.  So with that in mind and the fact that it's now winter, i'm going to make an attempt to post here, if only a little more often than in the past half a year. So stop by from time to time and see what's cookin in our world of fun and adventure.  As usual...these are all photo's i've snapped.

A family's got to eat. I thank the woods, everyday.

Brook trout

The families shoes at rest well we played in the water at Redrock Canyon, Waterton Lakes National Park this summer.

Score

Either grown, foraged or caught.

Spent 4 months off work with my boys, getting up to all kinds of trouble, including rolling round town on this rig.  Surly Ogre, with Yepp Mini upfront and Trek Mnt Train in the back.

Because we always like a fun little project; we decided to rip out our front yard this spring and re landscape the whole thing into a raingarden.  Here we are just putting in some plants.  Being a cool wet summer, the yard flourished and should come back twice as nice next year.  Lot's of native species, berries, grasses, ferns, etc...

So yeah.  Now you're all up to speed...hahaha.

A look at the new backyard smokehouse that i built out of tongue n'groove pine just before Christmas to handle 50 Lake Superior Cisco. The big Chief wasn't going to hack it and my usual Christmas fish smoking accomplice had moved to Newfoundland. So i was left with few options. This option turned out amazing.

Smoked cisco after 8hrs in the house.

I'll say it once.  It's been a cold winter so far.  Just the way we like it of course.

A nice buck that i came across late in December

Jigging rainbows

Back to logging some good winter miles, mostly via the daily commute.  Nothing like the feeling of  -35C to make you want to pedal hard.

Drippin some wax.  As a friend said today.  "Those trails aren't going to ski themselves Eric".

Friday, July 26, 2013

Just when this little niche in the interwebs was about to be forgotten, i finally decided that on this 9 degrees Centigrade evening in July, i would park my never stopping self in front of the computer to edit up some images.  So here are a couple from that last while..and by a while, i mean several months.

My cousin Thomas (T$) ventured out to chase some chromers.  Some were had.

What better than a rainy weekend to run around chasing brook trout?
Unfortunately, not many were had this day.  But is was nice and wet if nothing else.

Here, Fritz and i decided chucking streamers for lake trout wouldn't be a bad idea.  It was entertaining.

Skip to the July long weekend.
Fun in the sun with the family and a glassy morning on Superior catching a few nice trout.

Sometimes you just need to hang out at the beach.

The Sørlandet at Lake Superior Day down at the harbour here in Thunder Bay.

Trolling for salmon...with Lutsen the dog as my first mate.

As usual, keep it real and get outside.

peace out all.

Wow. Been a long time since i've sat down at this machine to do anything other than quickly dump what was on the camera's memory card or tune into Eurosports to watch the Tour De France. Anyways, been all around busy, while maintaining the joys of summer. Garden is looking fruitful and the berries are out...although no where to the extent of the last few years. Despite that, N, O and i hauled on them this weekend and Lutsen proved himself as our bear guard.
woot.

Beautiful, crisp saturday morning on the river yielded several gorgeous fish...some that had spawned, others fresh from the lake. just me and the water obsessed Boykin and spring steel...good times.
