A good day in May. Warm and summer like, but still May. Plenty on the go lately, including some tasty black morels, a couple more steelhead, and good times with family and friends.  hells yeah !

Beautiful, crisp saturday morning on the river yielded several gorgeous fish...some that had spawned, others fresh from the lake. just me and the water obsessed Boykin and spring steel...good times.

I was out for a run the night of April 6th when i noticed the full moon just cresting the head of the sleeping giant. UNREAL!...I mean unreal. Of course i kicked it up about three notches and high tailed it for home to grab my camera and the tripod. Unfortunately i didn't run fast enough, as the moon had already made its way well enough up into the night sky that it didn't appear as amazingly huge as it had 20 minutes earlier. A couple snaps anyways.



Doing my rain dance tonight in hopes of some rain and that the rivers will once again flow like they shoudl in the month of April along the Superior northshore. No snaps of any of the chromers as of late, since they have all been caught on short solo missions where i have failed to swing the fish into where i had my pelican case tucked in on the bank.

However, here's a hefty walleye that we sampled, tagged and stuck a radio transmitter in, while at work today.

Had fun yankin lake whitefish with dad on sunday...what a great day. unreal weather and enough fish to keep the smoker blazin, plus several meals of baked whitefish.

been keying in on skiing, being healthy and all the other good things life provides, which unfortunately has put the sitting at the computer in the evenings lower down on the list of priorities. so be it. keep getting out there and pushin it folks.

mmmmm yeah. Happy New Years all. Into the fifth year here at the fresh aspect and back at er after a christmas hiatus. Here are a some snaps from the last couple of weeks.

Lynx canadensis.

Pulled into our blueberry haunt for a pit stop on the way back to Winnipeg and came across this critter, who didn't seem to be too concerned with our abrupt arrival. Here he or she is slinking off after we had a chance to get a good look.



The new sled.

More on this later. But i will say it's hand crafted by Tom Neilson down in Cocoa Beach, Florida. 6'8'' 23&1/4''wide and 3'' thick, with multiple fin possibilities. Should be a dealdy slider for the lake.

A glowy sunset at the end of the first day of the moose hunt.

Called a cow into 20 yards the next morning, but with bull tags in pocket there was nothing i could do but watch her slip by. Still plenty amazing. Lot's of season left.

Tonight's post comes amidst cups of minty-ginger-lemon tea and resting, as we have been bound to home by a week long midwinter head-cold of gross proportions. I'll spare you the details.

Lake Superior whitefish baked skin on.


Beauty batch of homemade granola...apple sauce from this past summer to sweeten. This along with a scoop of blueberries and a couple dollops of N's home yogurt, get me started in the morning. Pretty simple stuff, that tastes great.
