So yeah...been rollin, runnin, fishin, pickin fiddleheads, hunting mushrooms, carvin and generally getting the fresh aspect headquarters in some kind of order for the arrival of the newest member of the team...who could arrive sometime in the next few weeks. word.

Yep, that's what it's about. Early mornings, long days, nice days, take some pictures, cold hands, smelly hands, wade, cast, break off, re-tie, hook set, burst of adrenaline, fish in hand, take a good look, do it some more.

bikes and morels

j., Lutsen and i booted out for a spin on some local trails this eve. Lutsen going like a bat outta hell and j and i taking a couple of spills over the ole handle bars just to keep things real, get acquainted with some dirt and remember why a helmet is a good thing. I'd say the rigs we ride are pretty rad...hand picked quality components, solid frames, nice wheelsets, cool skull stickers and black paint jobs... but there's a new rival out there in terms of coolness. check the uncles new wheels for cruising the north woods of Minnesota and for approaching unsuspecting ungulates come november.

Oh, and a booty load of morels from northern MN!!



Should see some tasty fungi comin around soon up in these parts, with a bit of rain in the forecast and some warmer days.

midweek solo session on atypically windless waves coming from a different angle, being pushed in by gale force winds further out in the lake. up in town, winds were blowing in excess of 30 knots, while 100km south the flags lay limp and the fog thick. sun broke through as i finished up after 3 hours of bliss. no complaints here.

Duped, beaten and humbled. That was me the other day, when a wiley fresh hog, straight from the lake took me for a ride, showed its self ever so briefly and subsequently left my hook dangling on a stick projecting from the bank of the river. Long after the fish had vanished, i was sure it was still at the end of my line, hunkered down under the bank. No such luck. As i replayed the scene in my head i realized that the fish had pulled a ninja move worthy of the most ninja-ee ninja on me and proved once again why we pursue these beauty's with such enthusiasm. dam. lovin it.

otherwise nasty low, blowin through this week, which could power up the wave factory out there. new cedar deck is done and smelling nice. fish to chase and a gorgeous spring evenin out there folks.
