On the move these days and spending more time with people, then getting virtual. Just back from a superduper fisheries conference in Ottawa though. Once again, thankful for living in tbay....i mean, that part of the country is so thick with culture and history, tons of bikes, and tons of good beer, and some really friendly folks; but also has a few too many people and a few too many cars and a whole lot of pavement.

Nance wasn't kidding when she said she was gonna get serious and put up a few rows of cedar shakes on the shed roof. Awsomeness.

Sun, sun and more sun. Hot week in the Bay. No waves to be had, other than those coming from the northwest and slammin under the boat as we worked on an inland lake this week. Threw down on some rock with Andrew and Nance on wednesday, otherwise keeping cool with some swims. Off to the nations capital tomorrow. out.

THE SECRET SPOT GOES OFF!!!
Let's just say that the stupidity continued all through the weekend and is still going on out there. Unfortunately i'm not talking about a local break...no...a local patch. Of course the berries are everywhere, not just at our "secret spot"...seek and yee shall find. Devoted the better part of the weekend to stalking the freezer with fresh picked blueberries. I'm no expert, but i reckon you'd call this a bumper crop. The hero shot showing our total haul is still to come, but right now we are sitting pretty at well over 20 litres. Leaving the secret spot on sunday afternoon was hard and almost felt wrong; like turning your back on good waves or a river full of fresh chrome, but alas we had to call er quits, dog had had his fill of blueberries and was calling for real dog food and the sun was beating down and causing the bugs to swarm en mass. So much goodness.

Harvesting the bounty of the woods. After spending a relaxing weekender out in the Lake of the Woods area an seeing that the blueberries were coming along nicely, Nance and i were nearly giddy with anticipation of what our.."secret spot" might have in store for us this year. Jetted out after dinner last night and to our delight, scored a solid 6 litres in just under 2 hours. Painless picking and a reckless display of gorging on blue fruit. Would have cooked it back out tonight, but thunder showers and a dinner invite left those juicy jumbos to grow another day. 20 litres should provide Nance and i with enough blues to sprinkle a couple of spoonfulls on our cereal every morning for a year....shweet!

Out of the ole loop-d-loop the last while. Out in the bush counting some fish, busy as heck this past weekend with my folks out here in TBay helping build a garden shed/ small shaping bay, and ya know, just rolling with summer.

Paged through it several times now, still having to read a few more of the articles and look at the photos another several hundred times. All of the content is top-notch, but i specially dug the article by Malcolm Johnson..."To Get to The Beach.." and Jeff Martins piece..."The Meatball's Big Party". Fantastico guys. Know what's pretty rare? Summer surf on Lake Superior, all done under sunny skies. It's been well over 2 months since i've been out surfing and not a lot of days in there, where there was much surf to begin with. But yeah, some how, some way, managed to surf friday night, saturday and sunday. West South West winds, whipped up some fun ones after a big low moved through friday night. Nance and i booked it northeastward to the little northern hamlet of Terrace Bay, Sat. AM...on time for some wicked sessions with great people. Surfed well into the evening. Posted up at Jer's place for the night and then headed out for a mellow surf today. At this point, thoroughly surfed. Enjoy all.

Had the fortunate opportunity to jump aboard Jeff Roney's 35' J-35 sailboat 'CHAZ' last night to help crew the boat for a wednesday night race out in the bay. Gorgeous evening, deadly time. Great dude, who knows his stuff.



My plea to the surf gods and goddesses may be working...could be something on tap for the weekend. out.

My summer vacation. By Eric Berglund....well, just some fun shots from the start of it. Some time well spent out at the lake with Nance's family and some time rocking out at my sis's wedding festivities. In a way, it was just like summer vacation, i.e. not having to work for a few days; although i'm a firm believer that after work and on the weekends, it is still summer vacation. Oh yeah and hey, if there is a surf god out there, will you please bring us some waves here on the lake sometime well before next christmas. Thanks.
